Why does the switch detect the transceiver but report an incorrect module type?

This can occur when the EEPROM compatibility profile does not match the intended interface or when the host interprets the programmed identification differently. Verify the module coding and corresponding OEM reference.

Why does the switch report a vendor or part number different from the physical transceiver label?

Compatible transceivers may contain programmed identification information required by the host platform. The vendor or part number reported by the switch can therefore differ from the manufacturer's physical product label.

Why are the DDM/DOM readings incorrect or abnormal?

Abnormal temperature, voltage, TX power, RX power, or bias-current readings may indicate an optical or hardware issue, but they can also result from incorrect calibration or communication between the compatible module and host device.

Why is the transceiver recognized but DDM/DOM information is missing?

The module may be recognized while diagnostic monitoring is not fully supported by the host platform or compatibility profile. Check whether both the transceiver and network device support DDM/DOM for that interface.

Why does a compatible transceiver work in one switch but not another?

Different switch models, hardware revisions, operating systems, and firmware versions may use different transceiver validation rules. A module compatible with one platform may require different coding for another.
