How do I choose the correct compatible optical transceiver?

Start with the host equipment and port requirements, then match the data rate, form factor, wavelength, reach, connector, fiber type, optical standard, and OEM compatibility. For high-speed interfaces, also verify FEC and other platform-specific requirements.

Can third-party transceivers damage a switch?

A properly designed transceiver that meets the required electrical, mechanical, thermal, and interface specifications should operate within the host platform's intended transceiver interface requirements.

Why is there no TX optical power from the compatible transceiver?

Check whether the port is administratively enabled and whether the host has disabled the transmitter because of an unsupported-module condition or configuration issue. If the module is correctly recognized and enabled, further hardware testing may be required.
